Woohoo! I’ve reached 6000 followers on Instagram so to celebrate I’ve collected together a list of FREE bag patterns. Following on from the success of my original Free Sewing Patterns list that focuses on adult clothing patterns, there were lots of requests for a free bag patterns list. I have only made a few bags before and I am quite picky about what I add to these lists – bizarre youtube tutorials with no sound just ain’t my bag! So here’s the list as I’ve gathered so far, as always, feel free to add your favourite free patterns to the comments and I will add them to the list!
Blue Calla Sewing Patterns – there are three cross body bag patterns and two clutch patterns available to download for free. Definitely worth a look!
Emmaline Bags have four free PDF patterns available for download.
Fabric.com – weekender duffle bag tutorial is really lovely and there are tons more free patterns available if you’ve got time for a browse?

Helen’s Closet – Costa Tote is a stylish reversible tote bag with pockets! This is high on my to-make list and I think would make amazing Christmas presents.
Kylie and the Machine – Ida Clutch is one of my all-time favourite scrapbusters. You can see some of my versions here.
Made by Rae – send you the free Buttercup Bag pattern if you sign up to their newsletter.

Milan AVJC – UAMEP Origami Bag is a zero-waste bag pattern that I have been meaning to make! It looks super stylish and cool and of course ZERO WASTE which is just awesome.
Noodlehead – Cargo Duffle Bag which is such a useful looking bag – I think this is such a generous freebie!

Noodlehead – Forage Bag is so super cute! This looks easy to make and a great scrapbuster!
Pattydoo Blog – Geo Bag – okay I know I said I wasn’t adding any weird links and this is all in German but this pattern is amazing and with the magic of google translate I am sure we could figure this out right?! I know lots of non-German-speaking people love this bag so I had to include it!
Peppermint Magazine – Tote Bag – looks like a great basic bag pattern for anyone new to bag making and I always love Peppermint’s free patterns!

See Kate Sew – free tote bag pattern. If you look past all the advertising for Cricut this looks like a fab tote bag!
Sew Over It – Drawstring Bag – the perfect little bag pattern for P.E. bags amiright?!
Sew Sweetness – have loads of free bag patterns on their site. I haven’t used them but several of them look very simple and would be a great introduction to bag making.
SUAT – Market Bag – I have actually made this and it’s great! It’s really huge and can fit tons into it. As it is fully lined I am confident it is strong enough to be able to hold a lot of groceries!
Swoon Patterns – I can’t even begin to list all of the amazing patterns that Swoon offer for free. I’ve used their free cardigan pattern and can confirm they are good patterns. You’ll just have to head over here and see if there are any that take your fancy!

We All Sew – Flying Geese Patchwork Bag – I want to make this one and have had it bookmarked for the longest time, if I ever learn to quilt this will be the first thing I make as I think it is just gorgeous. I just don’t think I am patient enough to quilt it all together!
With Wendy – free pattern to make a Kanken backpack copy. I have seen several versions of this and they turn out lovely!
Anyone else got any good ones you want to add to the list? Drop them in a comment and I’ll add them in!
I’m working on a list of FREE children’s patterns too but that one is definitely a work in progress! Maybe it’ll be ready by the time I reach 7,000 followers!
Just fab, great list and clearly you’ve put a lot of work into this for us all! Thanks. I’m definitely going to add some of these to my to-do list!
