My Autumn/Winter Sewing Plans

I have already mentioned it a bunch of times but, I seriously love autumn you guys! It is my absolute favourite season closely followed by winter. So as the nights have been drawing in and the days have turned colder I am getting more and more inspired to sew! In fact, my head is overflowing with ideas and so I thought I would write a few of them down. Want to take a look at all the projects that are filling my head and have me daydreaming of time at my sewing machine?

First up is this beautiful Lady McElroy Floral Poplin from Minerva Crafts. I am absolutely in love with the print and ordered enough to make a Sew Over It Susie Blouse but the print is absolutely HUGE and so I may have to rethink my plan. I think the huge print may be lost a bit if I cut it into a top so I think it would be better as a dress but I only ordered 1.5m so this is a bit of an enigma at the moment. I think it could make a lovely Tilly and the Buttons Francoise dress but I am not completely sold on the idea. Any suggestions?

Now this one is a definite plan, in fact I have already cut this one out. It is this gorgeous Atelier Brunette Twinkle Night French Terry and I think it will be a perfect Morris Blazer. This is a brilliant make for me as it fills a definite hole in my wardrobe. I don’t have a casual jacket for evenings out. I am always lugging a big coat around with me or am the one person at a party wearing a cardigan! I think this will look so much smarter than a cardigan but made up in a knit fabric will retain a casual feel that will make me comfortable and not feel too dressed-up. I can’t wait to have this in my wardrobe in time for the Christmas party season!

I also have some of this Art Gallery Winterberry Pine Rayon fabric and had planned to make a Sew Liberated Metamorphic Dress with it layered over a tablecloth I have dyed, but then I do think that this blouse pattern would look beautiful made up in this pattern… Hmm I am such a terrible decision maker!

This is another combo I haven’t quite decided upon. I have been lucky enough to grab some of the Atelier Brunette Shine Night fabric from their new collection and was going to make the Rachel Comey V1501 pattern after falling in love with Heather Lou’s of Closet Case Pattern’s version. But now it’s here I am wondering if it would get more wear if I made it into a Simplicity 8454 top with allllll the ruffles. I am absolutely in love with the fabric and am worried if I treat it as too special and make it into a special dress then it might never get worn! Again, I am totally up to suggestions as I am clearly rubbish at matching fabrics with patterns.

Have you seen the #stitchedwithatwist challenge on Instagram? I haven’t been taking part in any challenges for a while after getting a bit of challenge burnout at the beginning of the year but I think this challenge will actually give me the push to get on with this idea I have had floating in my head for a while. I plan on making a stripey Coco dress using these floral scraps as amazing shoulder appliques!

Now, I do already have some Christmas makes planned…..

I bought this gorgeous piece of quilting cotton from Crafty Sew and So earlier on this year and it is destined to become this gorgeous Simplicity 1590 1940s reproduction blouse pattern which I was so kindly gifted during #thegreatbigpatternswap.

I also have some small scraps of this amazing Sleigh tencel fabric big enough to become a Stevie Top. I am seriously so excited to make this, I was given this fabric for Christmas last year and I have basically been waiting a year to make this!

Finally, I bought this metallic Dashwood quilting cotton at The Great British Sewing Bee Live last September to use as a fun jacket lining. However, I just finished the jacket (heading to the blog soon!) and it just really wasn’t the right fabric for the job. I am not sad AT ALL because I now have this beautiful fabric to work with but I have absolutely no idea what to make with 2m of white quilting cotton so again I am open to suggestions!

Right then, that’s most of my autumn/winter sewing plans and rough ideas. Anyone else feeling particularly inspired at this time of the year? Or do you have any suggestions for me? I am certain I won’t get all of these made this year but am looking forward to incorporating some of these plans into my #2019makenine plans!
