BIG NEWS and a Coco Dress

So if you are following me on social media it is likely that you will have seen my BIG NEWS this week! The big news is… I have officially joined the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network! This is such a huge deal for me, one of the main reasons I started looking at sustainable sewing and started this blog is because funds are tight round here. I was looking for ways to make my sewing hobby cheaper and repurposing thrifted clothes, using up every scrap, and buying secondhand fabric are all very sustainable ways of sewing as well as CHEAP.

So as much as I am still carrying on experimenting with dyeing fabrics, and I still plan on sewing with old tablecloths and bedding, I will also have one project per month funded by Minerva Crafts. This is such a gift. I cannot believe I get to sew with some of the beautiful fabrics and patterns available on their site every month and share the makes with you guys! I definitely plan to bring my sustainable message to the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network and show ways I am using the scraps from projects and selecting some of their more eco friendly products – such as the recycled Gutermann thread.  I hope you don’t think I am departing too far from my sustainability message, please feel free to let me know what you think in the comments!

Anyway, my first project for Minerva is this Tilly and the Buttons Coco dress, I chose this jersey with an apple print as it is just my style (I was obsessed with the Beatles as a teenager and I still love anything with apples on it) and I also thought it was gender neutral enough that if I had any scraps I could use them to make a t-shirt for my 3 year old boy. If you want the full lowdown, it’s only one click away here over on the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network! Eeek!

  1. Congrats! That’s wonderful! I love that you have in mind to showcase your partner’s more eco friendly fabrics and notions – I always have my eye out for lovely organic fabric. xx
